Sami Ubaydi D.D.S.

I was five years old the first time I visited the dentist. That appointment had a very important impact on my life. Then and there, I knew I wanted to become a dentist. All the models, instruments and gadgets really intrigued me. Luckily, my parents supported my dream and encouraged me throughout school.
I lived in Allen Park until my freshman year in college. My parents then moved to Troy where they stayed for many years. I attended Wayne State University where I excelled in my classes. Because I attended classes year-round, I almost finished my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 3 years. I applied for early entrance to University of Detroit – Mercy Dental School, and was accepted. I began my dental career in August 1981.

I graduated dental school in 1985 and was one of the top 12 students of my senior class. After graduation, I worked at Mid Western Dental Center in Sterling Heights. I became the assistant director of the 20 chair clinic. My ambition to own a private practice was realized when I purchased a practice in Marlette, Michigan in October 1991.

As life happens, I became interested in practicing closer to home. I sought out a practice in Metro Detroit. I met Dr. Lesnau and Dr. Brodoski in Sterling Heights and they were glad to have me join the practice. Dr. Lesnau retired shortly thereafter and I became a partner with Dr. Brodoski in October 2007. When Dr. Brodoski retired in December 2011, I became sole owner of Crimson Maple Dental.

My dental philosophy includes an emphasis on prevention, using advancing technology in diagnosis and viewing dentistry as a component for complete medical health. At Crimson Maple Dental we treat our patients as we would a family member.

Sharon Hummer • Registered Dental Hygienist

Sharon began her professional career at this office before the name changed to Crimson Maple Dental. Despite the name change, and a few different faces, Sharon’s goal for her patients remains the same: “To help you attain your optimal dental health, and provide you with a smile you are comfortable with, in a relaxed friendly environment.” Sharon is rewarded daily seeing the interest, excitement and determination patients have in achieving their goal. Recent strides in dental technology, namely digital radiography and the intra-oral camera, have allowed the professional to explain dental treatment with more clarity, and involvement with the patient. It’s been exciting.

Sharon graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental Hygiene program, and was honored with receiving the “Director’s Key Award.” She returned to the University the following year to complete her Bachelor of Science degree. Since then, Sharon has become nitrous oxide certified, and stays updated through a variety of continuing education courses and journals.

Sharon is an avid runner, completing the Detroit Free Press Marathon, and recently completing the second half of the Lansing Marathon with her daughter. She enjoys baseball/softball and any outdoor adventure, including hiking the Grand Canyon.

Sharon has two daughters. The eldest, Alexandra, is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Physicians’ Assistant, and Kristin, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Michigan State University.
